I’m Headed to the National Pie Championships in Orlando, Florida

I’m on the road this week, headed to Orlando, Florida for the National Pie Championships at the Caribe Royale Hotel and Convention Center. Here’s me holding the sign you should keep an eye out for.

This great event attracts thousands of pie lovers from across the country – both amateur and professional pie makers competing for prizes, as well as just plain pie lovers who show up to sample the best slices in the USA, and schmooze with kindred pie spirits.

I’ll be signing my cookbooks and giving a talk Saturday morning at The Pie Learning Center. I’m calling it When Bad Things Happen to Good Pie Bakers – a sort of narrative (and potentially humorous) smorgasbord of things that can go awry when one sets out to bake a pie. As most of us know, there are plenty to choose from!

On Saturday afternoon and Sunday, April 27th and 28th, the festivities move to nearby Celebration, Florida for the American Pie Council’s Great American Pie Festival, sponsored by Crisco. More than 39,000 pie lovers are expected to attend.

Come join us. If you can’t make it, I hope to return with a few photos and perhaps some video clips to give you a taste of the action. Until then, have a great week.
